DR SOLAR Man of the Atom #3 Sneak Peek!

Here's a couple of pages from DR SOLAR #3. I'm having a blast working on the book with Jim Shooter. Jim's expressed to me how he likes my take on Solar. It's cool to hear that. Hopefully the Solar fans feel the same way.

Dr SOLAR Man of the Atom #2!

Hey Everybody! It's been a while since I posted. I've been pretty busy wrapping up the last couple of issues of The WEB for DC Comics. Now that I'm done, I gotta bit of news...

I'm now the regular artist on Dr SOLAR Man Of The Atom for Dark Horse Comics. I'm currently working on issue 2 even though solicitation for SOLAR #2 mentions the previous artist. Here's a preview of the splash page for #2. Hope you dig it.

BTW, I'm going to be at the San Diego Comic Con so if you want to stop by and visit, I'm going to be in Artist's Alley @ table DD-20. See you there!

KRAK!!!

Here's this splash page from the WEB#8 with the main character doing a double jump kick. I had to crank this out in a few hours to meet my deadline. Wooh! Thank God I'm done.

Hardwired!

Here's a splash page from The WEB #8. I wanted to have some depth to this page so I chose a slight downshot. What really helped me a lot was a 3d model that I built of the background in Maya. Once I set up the camera angle, I made a screen shot of the 3D background and I brought it in Photoshop. I bluelined it and printed on the board to ink over. I placed some of the cables going off the top of the page in the extreme foreground to really push the depth of the shot. Took a while to get this piece done with the wires, zip-a-tone & all. I think this page came out pretty good.

I really like how this composition turned out. I like how the negative space works in this panel.

CRASH!!!

Splash for the WEB #7. This was fun to draw. I wanted to do a "In Your Face" splash page with the WEB crashing through the skylight.

Panel Of The Day #2

I thought this panel came out pretty cool. This panel is from The WEB #7. Oracle is on the laptop monitor. I decide to render out the Oracle icon to make her look more like a 3D image instead of a flat 2d line art image like you normally see in the Birds of Prey or Batman books.

I decided to add some halftone dot screen to darken the background. It'll be interesting to see how it'll look in print.
